General meeting updates

This month’s General Meeting has already reached legendary status with one of the finest show and tells ever, with Lan Nguyen talking about his and Oxford City Councils Digital Planning Journey.

Josh Codjoe followed up with details and on ODP Norwich event and then handed over to Jonathan Hodge who launched their support of our Winter event on 10th December 2026. 

This month’s General Meeting featured a range of updates and opportunities for collaboration.

Digital Local Plan Prototyping: Nikki and Laura presented the City of London Corporation’s MHCLG-funded Digital Local Plan project, outlining a connected plan-making system and prototypes for timetables, policy drafting, evidence management, and search; they asked LPAs to provide continuing feedback and participate in testing

Local Plan Outcomes And Site Submission Tools: Radhika outlined an upcoming survey to measure how MHCLG local-plan workstreams support authorities, while Andy invited LPAs running calls for sites before year-end to pilot a standardized site-submission tool with dedicated support.

Digital Planning Register Converter: Stef explained that the Digital Planning Register is moving beyond its current PlanX-and-BOPS pipeline to investigate a back-office-agnostic converter, using the DPR schema and user research to make current and historic planning data available from varied council system

Extract Expansion And User Research: Chanelle reported that Extract is expanding beyond Article 4, conservation, and TPO documents to five additional document types, while monitoring adoption and seeking example documents and LPA participants for user research on improving planning-data workflows.

Proptech Innovation Fund Round Six: Alphie announced webinars and engagement opportunities for the 11 pilots in Proptech Innovation Fund round six, covering evidence and policy alignment and Section 106, with a final showcase planned for around February 2027.

• Extract Update – Chanelle Williams provided the latest developments and progress on Extract.
• Balancing Local Government Reorganisation and Plan-Making – Sammy Sharma (Rushcliffe Borough Council) shared a call for collaboration, inviting colleagues to exchange experiences and approaches to managing the demands of Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) alongside plan-making responsibilities.
• ODP Camp Norwich – Phil James gave an update on preparations for ODP Camp, including what attendees can expect from this year’s event.
• Coffee Roulette – Josh Codjoe highlighted Coffee Roulette, encouraging members of the community to take part as a simple way to connect, network, and share knowledge with colleagues across ODP.
