Identify who to work with in your LPA

This page sets out information on what other capabilities you need to work with across the Council to make this work. For example HR, Data, Procurement, Legal.

Every LPA will need to access different people depending on their structures, but here is some information that can help.

There may be other teams within your LPA that you will need to liaise with for support in various aspects of the project. It is recommended to start to form these alliances early on. A first step would be to provide them with an overview of the project and the type of support you may need later.

Quote from a LPA about identifying people early

Ensure you’ve got all the contacts and relationships identified that you’ll need for the life of the project, as a few of these may be outside planning (e.g. IT, GIS, Finance, Procurement, Business Support, etc). Manage expectations from the beginning, and keep everyone updated on progress. Bring everyone along for this exciting journey– it will help to identify the digital allies across the planning service and wider council. These products will only be as good as the testing and feedback that goes into them. Keep planning officers and Subject Matter Experts engaged and at the heart of the process. Your project team should be the champions and experts in these products. The best way to keep up to date with the progress of the tool is to test it yourself even if you’re not the end user.
