What is user research

User Research focuses on understanding user behaviours, needs, and motivations through observation techniques, task analysis, and other feedback methodologies.

Why it’s important to ODP

ODP aims to increase the digital maturity of planning authorities across England, through the designing of better services, standardisation of data and offers of training and support.

This is complex as each LPA is slightly different and there are lots of LPA and resident needs that are currently not met.

User Research plays a vital role in making sure ODP has heard and thought about as many of those varied needs as possible so it can design the right solutions for the right problem.

Why it’s important in every day working life

Understanding the users of the product or service you are working on is not only vital in the design stage it is important at every stage through delivery. It’s easy to get caught up in delivering a service when what we are all actually trying to do it deliver an outcome for the users of that service. User research will help you keep this in mind.
